Professor Feridun Acar was born in Izmir, Turkey.
He has studied medicine at Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey and did his neurosurgery residency at Dokuz Eylul University, Izmir, Turkey. He has completed his stereotactic and functional neurosurgery fellowship at OHSU, Portland Oregon, USA.
He has established the functional neurosurgery unit at Pamukkale University, Denizli, Turkey in 2005. He has been a faculty at Pamukkale University since 2004 and running the chair of the department since 2012.
